National Novel Writing Month - Midway!

National Novel Writing Month is in full swing across the nation, nay, across the entire globe! I am again giving it my best shot, trying to write 50,000 words during the month of November. I was a "winner" last year, but failed two previous years. So, although I am currently at 1 for 3, I am attempting to end November at 2 for 4; not a bad ratio. The first two weeks of the month were poor showings. Barely 3,000 words per week. Of course, I have excellent excuses for such a bad beginning. First there was the election, which kept me glued to CNN and MSNBC, and then there was the post-election elation! My daughter and her family drove to Northern Virginia for the final Barack Obama rally on 11/3 and they had an absolute ball! They came back with fantastic photos, great stories, and made some new friends, to boot.

Enough procrastination for now. Back to the keyboard to get my word count up a bit before the clock strikes twelve.

I've Finally Done It

Yes, I've finally done it. Taken the leap and joined the throngs of bloggers before me. But not without some (actually quite a bit of) trepidation. Not techinically minded like I believe those before me to be, I got help from Google (what would we all do w/out Google?) and am now on my way to posting my first blog entry!! Some of my reluctance to blog was because of the belief that no one could possibly be interested in what I had to say about the day to day mundanity of my life (which I assumed was what most bloggers were posting in their blogs). I've obviously gotten over that reluctance. Although, the belief is still intact. The reason for the leap was that I have been reading other author's blogs, and some are actually interesting. There is no rhyme or reason as to how I've come across, or you could say stumbled on, these other blogs. But, as I pointed out, it appears that folks actually enjoy reading about other people's lives and even take the time to comment on them (if allowed). Is this a new type of voyeurism? Is this the laptop version of reality t.v.? I don't know, but I'm now willing to venture into this new world and find out!
